Save the date! On Thursday, June 6 between 6pm and 10pm Christchurch Town Council will be holding a commemorative beacon lighting event on Christchurch Quay and Bandstand. The community-focused event will bring together local schools, businesses, organisations and charities to remember and celebrate Christchurch’s contribution to the war effort.
With live music, a history hub and entertainment there’s lots going on for everyone young and old. We’d like to encourage businesses to get involved by creating war-time window displays using red white and blue bunting, Union Jacks, Poppies or soldier silhouettes.
For hospitality venues, we are encouraging residents to ‘bring a picnic’ and would like to ask those who can, to put on takeaway/picnic offers.
As part of a central push and historical meaning around D-Day the 6th June is also National Fish and Chip Day, so any dine-in venues are encouraged to make the most of this with offers enticing residents in.
Please contact Nicole Baddeley at Christchurch Town Council for more information on shop displays, dining offers and how to be involved at: [email protected].
